Darn That Blasted Internet!
I’m still here, I promise. My internet has still been messing up but today I found the problem and when I say I, I mean Isaac. Either way it should be fixed. Technology is overrated and under appreciated. Anyways. Several of you have been asking about Hunter and honestly it’s been a struggle the last couple of days. I’d post a picture but I’m afraid to let you see how skinny he is. Since his surgery he’s lost 2 or 3 pounds and for a kid with no body fat - that’s scary! Last night he woke me up in the middle of the night crying with pain, after I gave him his medicine and walked him back to bed I grabbed his arm and couldn’t believe the size of the tiny spindly limb. I laid in bed and cried at the fact that my 8 yr old weighs 39 lbs and could only picture the “Save the children” commercials. We went from being able to see his rib cage to being able to see his chest cavity. It’s sad. But there’s not much we can do but encourage him to eat through the pain. And after all the doctor did warn us that he could lose a bit from surgery. Tonight Isaac and I are going to buy him Ensure or Pedia-sure or something to help put the meat back on his bones. My heart breaks to see his skinny little body but I know that this surgery was a means to an end and now the weight can start increasing as his throat heals and he’s able to eat more. Today he started school and only was able to stay for about 2 hours, tomorrow we are going to try for a half day. But we are confident this will pass quickly, until then we just trust God to help us know what to feed him and what will help. Any suggestions would be wonderful.
NOTE: Hunter just weighed himself and is up to 40lbs today! We’ll praise God for every pound!!!
