Baked French Toast

    * 1  loaf Texas Toast, cut into 1 inch squares
    * 6 eggs
    * 2 cups milk
    * 1  cups half-and-half
    * 2 teaspoons vanilla extract
    * 1/4 teaspoon ground cinnamon
    * 3/4 cup butter
    * 1 1/3 cups brown sugar
    * 3 tablespoons light corn syrup
    * Chopped pecans

DIRECTIONS

   1. Butter a 9x13 inch baking dish. Arrange the slices of bread in the bottom. In a large bowl, beat together eggs, milk, cream, vanilla and cinnamon. Dip bread into mixture a few small handful at a time.  I like it to get coated but not soggy.
   2. Preheat oven to 350 degrees F (175 degrees C). In a small saucepan, combine butter, brown sugar and corn syrup; heat until bubbling. Pour over bread and egg mixture.
   3. Top with chopped pecans
   4. Bake in preheated oven, uncovered, for 40 minutes.

I got this recipe from several sources.  After trying a few different versions of this I combined the things I loved about each of the recipes and came up with this.  We do this traditionally on Christmas Eve morning or Thanksgiving morning but is great anytime!  I think I’ll try it in bed next ;)
